Interior doors and trim were installed last week. We salvaged some trim from the old house, so you’ll see that some of the trim is a different color and is a little beaten up. The painters will patch and putty all of it before they paint. It will all be painted the same color eventually.
One other thing you’ll see in the photos… The hardwood floor guy came back and sanded the entire perimeter of the hardwood floors. We’re not going to put base shoe back on the floors… So he wanted to sand the perimeter before the painters painted. That way, he won’t mess up the baseboard paint too much. (Inevitably the painters will have to do some touch up).

This is a view of the kitchen window before the interior trim was installed. The pile of wood on the floor is trim.

This is a view of the kitchen window after the trim was installed. (Some of our stuff from the bedroom is in the kitchen right now – that was necessary so the floor guy could sand the perimeter of the floors).

This is a view of the front door. (Remember, the door and sidelite will be glass). You can see that there is trim around the door. There is also new picture rail between the wall and cove. Everything will eventually be painted white. You can also see where the floor guy sanded. The other thing to notice is the little smoke detector thing at the lower left side of the door. This is part of the Invisible Fence (I like to call it Magic Fence) that was just installed for the dog. This little thing sends out a signal that prevents the dog from getting within 6′ of the front door. Yes, we can now answer the door without the dog rushing whoever is on the other side!

This is a view from the entry hall looking into the living room. Notice the trim around the opening and the picture rail above.

This is a view of the living room windows. You can see the trim around the windows and the picture rail at the cove.

This is the new (old) door from the entry hall to the bedroom hall. We salvaged this door from the kitchen side of the entry hall. Now we can close off the bedroom area from the rest of the house.

This is the pocket door to the hall bathroom. This door used to be a regular ‘swing’ door into the bathroom.

This is the door to the master bedroom. This door used to swing out from the bedroom (which is a bit weird). So we salvaged the door and had it rehung so it swings in.

These are the new doors to the master closet (on the left) and the master bath (on the right). A dresser will go between them. You can also see the little crown moulding at the ceiling. There was already crown moulding in this room (you can see it on the right side – it’s painted) so we matched in the same profile at the new walls.
